I’ve been playing a lot of Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics Amazon -> Nintendo Switch recently. Especially Mancala, since my girlfriend really enjoys that game, and she wins all the time.

While we were playing, I kept calling it “Maine Coon Cala”, and it took root in my brain. How would that look? Can I make it happen?

So after styling on her (actually she styled on me 😰), I designed the game:

At this point I’d usually hop into vscode and start slapping some HTML together, but I took a different path this time. I hopped into Paint.NET and mocked up a UI instead.

I’m usually pretty intimidated by doing this since the good tools for wireframing aren’t free, but sometimes you just have to dive in.

The mockup isn’t perfect but it helped me to play around with the site a bit instead of fighting CSS the entire way.

Pretty great, right!? 😸

I initially created the game in 48 hrs but the CSS was all messed up and it was missing the customization section I wanted to add. I went out of my way to try to learn flexbox while working on this site, and wow does it make CSS slightly less infurating.
